Stephan Wilms (born 1963) attended the Cantonal Business School in Basel, then trained as a lead auditor at what was then the Swiss Trust Company. Between 1991 and 2000, he held various managerial positions in the life and non-life insurance sectors of the Baloise insurance company in Switzerland and abroad. Stephan Wilms then joined Ernst&Young in Basel as Head of Enterprise Risk Management, where he was in charge of various assignments worldwide.
After switching to the health insurance industry in mid-2002, he became CFO and deputy chair of the Executive Board at health insurer KPT, where he was also responsible for various other areas of management.
In 2009, Visana’s Board of Directors appointed Stephan Wilms as CFO and member of the Executive Board, with effect as of May 2010.
