By acquiring Simpego, the Visana Group is strategically expanding its property insurance business. Simpego complements the existing Visana portfolio by adding established digital insurance solutions, thereby strengthening the Visana Group’s expertise in the non-life insurance sector.
Visana already offers a comprehensive range of insurance solutions, which, in addition to health and accident insurance, includes collective insurance, property insurance (household contents, buildings, motor vehicle, valuables, glass breakage, travel) and legal protection insurance.
Simpego customers can continue to rely on what they know and trust: current insurance contracts and products will remain unchanged, while customers will continue to enjoy the same high level of service and existing benefits.
For Simpego employees, too, the acquisition provides continuity as well as new opportunities. The approximately 75 jobs will be retained. With their expertise and proven digital skills, the staff will continue to play a key role in the successful development of Simpego within the Visana Group.
The acquisition is subject to approval by FINMA.

Visana is one of Switzerland’s leading insurers. It offers compulsory health insurance (CHI/OKP) as per the Health Insurance Act (HIA/KVG), top-up and property insurance as per the Insurance Policies Act (IPA/VVG) and accident insurance as per the Accident Insurance Act (AIA/UVG), as well as pension solutions and car insurance. Visana insures private customers (individuals and families) and business customers (firms, institutions and associations). For the latter, it offers loss-of-income and accident insurance. Its range also includes household contents, building, personal liability and legal protection insurance.
As at 1 January 2026, Visana has a total of 922,149 private customers. Of these, 737,459 people have basic health insurance with Visana. It also has 16,330 business customers. Visana employs 1,349 staff at its headquarters in Bern and at around 50 agencies throughout Switzerland. Visana’s premium volume amounts to CHF 4.46 billion.
