Case management at a glance
-
A serious accident or burnout – life is full of surprises. Unfortunately, not all of them are pleasant. Through our case management service, we support staff who have fallen ill or had an accident, helping them to recover and return to the workplace.
-
Our case managers maintain close contact with the person concerned, their employer, treating physicians and all insurers involved in the case, e.g. providers of invalidity insurance, unemployment insurance or occupational pensions. A personal consultation is held to analyse the current situation, set goals together and plan the next steps.
-
Case management can help with:
- Identifying absences related to physical or mental health at an early stage
- Finding suitable contacts for medical and therapeutic matters
- Clarifying issues related to insurance and financing
- Facilitating a return to daily working life
-
Open questions are answered and uncertainties reduced. The support provided by case management eases the burden on everyone involved. This creates space for recovery, offers new perspectives and allows a return to work that is right for everybody.
-
Successful reintegration into daily working life means that the company can continue to count on the affected person’s contributions and proven know-how.

Frequently asked questions about case management
If a staff member is absent for a prolonged period, for instance due to illness, a serious accident or burnout, we provide case management support to aid their return to the workplace. The goal is sustainable and realistic reintegration of the person concerned. Case management also involves coordinated cooperation. We handle coordination between the employer, the person concerned, physicians, therapists and the relevant insurers.
A case manager is brought in when someone is off work for a prolonged period – after an accident, for example, or due to mental health issues such as burnout. If the person concerned agrees to cooperate, we assess the situation together, set realistic goals, consider bringing in other parties and identify such parties.
The HR department and the affected person’s line managers are almost always involved. Others often participate too, such as therapists, job coaches, employment offices, lawyers, pension funds and (if invalidity is a possibility) social insurance providers. A case manager coordinates the processes and helps the person concerned to focus entirely on their recovery.
Each situation is different. Sometimes therapy is needed, sometimes a change of tasks or adaptations to improve workplace ergonomics. How long case management lasts – weeks or months – is of secondary importance. What matters is that the person concerned returns to work feeling positive.

It varies greatly. Sometimes a few weeks are enough, but sometimes case management supports an individual for several months.
Of course. Employers play a major role in the reintegration process.
