Accident? Illness? Any people visiting you from abroad will want to enjoy their stay in Switzerland with peace of mind. In order to avoid substantial financial consequences, it makes sense to take out guest insurance. The insurance provides medical benefits in the event of an accident or illness.

Treatment costs, medication and transport costs to hospital are covered up to the insured sum indicated. Your guests only need to pay a retention fee of CHF 200 per claim.

Medical benefits
The insurance covers medical benefits in the event of accident or illness, including amongst others:
- medical expenses including medication;
- hospital stay;
- services provided by qualified nursing staff for home nursing;
- treatment by state-certified chiropractors;
- hire of medical aids;
- in the event of an accident, initial purchase of prostheses, glasses, hearing aids, etc.;
- repair or replacement of medical aids where they have been damaged during an accident requiring medical treatment;
- transport to the nearest suitable hospital for treatment.
Assistance
Guest insurance provides guests with medical assistance that they can access by phone 24 hours a day. The insurance covers the costs of repatriation to the country of origin in the event of a serious accident or death.
Search and recovery costs
Guest insurance covers all costs relating to search and recovery activity up to CHF 10,000.

Guest insurance can be taken out for various insured sums and with various terms.
- Insured sums: CHF 30,000, CHF 50,000 or CHF 100,000
- Term: between 4 and 90 days
- Premium: from CHF 32
Guest insurance fulfils the requirement for the issue of a visa
Schengen-area health insurance is mandatory for people applying for a visa in order to visit Switzerland or the Schengen area. Guest insurance enables you to demonstrate that you have the required cover of up to CHF 50,000.
Key information for your guests
Guest insurance covers your guests against financial surprises in Switzerland in the event of illness or accident. Certain characteristics distinguish guest insurance from other types of insurance:
- Time of insurance: Guest insurance can be taken up no later than five days after arrival in Switzerland.
- Age threshold: Insured persons must not be older than 81 years of age.
- Scope: Guest insurance is valid throughout the entire Schengen area – except for the country of residence of the insured person.
- No medical examination: No medical examination is required before taking out guest insurance.

Frequently asked questions about Allianz guest insurance
Guest insurance is intended primarily for two groups of people:
- Anyone who is in Switzerland temporarily – for a holiday, family visit, business trip or to improve their language skills, for example. It covers illness and accident – and the associated costs, which are frequently high – for the whole of the insured person’s stay in Switzerland.
- People who need a visa to visit Switzerland (or a country in the Schengen area). Insurance cover of CHF 50,000 per person is needed to obtain a visa.
Individuals can take out guest insurance for their visit to Switzerland. They should note that:
- cover cannot exceed 90 days (three months) per visit.
- insurance can be taken out no later than five days after arrival in Switzerland.
- people over the age of 81 cannot take out guest insurance.
Guest insurance does not cover the following benefits:
- known pre-existing illnesses
- chronic conditions
- treatments scheduled or commenced prior to starting the journey
- costs for dental or orthodontic treatment that is not the result of an accident
- aviation accidents
Illnesses and accidents that are the result of certain events or circumstances are also excluded. These include, for example:
- alcohol or drug abuse
- participation in risky activities such as canyoning
- participation in civil unrest
There is no retention fee for guest insurance.
