For therapists who are already recognised
If you are already on our list of therapists, you will find important information here, about quality assurance, change of address and the handling of benefit evaluations.
Quality requirements and framework conditions
As a recognised therapist, you are obliged to uphold certain standards. These provide a basis of trust for our cooperation.
Quality assurance includes, among other things:
- Ensuring patient safety
- Professionally competent provision of services
- Aligning the therapy concept with the principles of effectiveness, suitability and cost-efficiency
- Correct and transparent invoicing for services rendered, using the tariff codes from tariff 590
- In particular, this includes using tariff code 1146 to invoice for time in which treatments (e.g. needles, wraps, devices) are left to take effect while the therapist is otherwise occupied
- Services not included in tariff 590 must be shown using tariff code 999
- Compliance with applicable laws
- Willingness to provide information in response to queries
Tariff 590
The universal tariff 590 applies Switzerland-wide to all invoicing for services in the field of complementary medicine. It was jointly developed by health insurers and professional associations, and constitutes the standard for uniform, transparent invoicing. The current version is available from santéservices ag.
Documents containing comprehensive details on tariff 590 and invoicing can be found via the links in the Downloads section below. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact our Therapist Recognition Office, either on +41 31 359 19 40 or by email: therapeutenanerkennung@healthinsurancesolutions.ch.
Use of tariff code 1146 ‘Exposure time during parallel treatment‘
Time periods during which a treatment is left to take effect without your active involvement (e.g. needles, wraps, devices) while you are caring for another patient are invoiced under tariff code 1146.
- For the duration of such ‘parallel treatment’, a reduced fee applies, which cannot exceed 50% of the fee for the actual treatment (as stipulated by Versichererteam Komplementärmedizin and CAMsuisse).
- Failure to indicate ‘parallel treatment’ as such may result in certain consequences, including removal from the list of therapists.
Change of address or name
To ensure that your details on Visana’s list of therapists remain up to date, please directly inform santéservices ag about any changes to your name, practice address, phone number or website, using the official santéservices ag change form (only available in German).
Note: once santéservices ag has implemented the changes, it usually takes a few days for them to appear on our list.
Second location or closure of practice
If you have a second location or are closing your practice, please inform us by email: therapeutenanerkennung@healthinsurancesolutions.ch
Benefit evaluation questionnaire
Visana may conduct a professional evaluation of benefits in cases involving longer or intensive treatment. In such cases, we send you a questionnaire by post. In order to be able to assess the patient’s entitlement to benefits, we need you to be willing to give us information.
Please send us the completed and signed questionnaire by post, using the return envelope provided. You can also download the questionnaire below and fill it in on a computer.
Prompt submission of the questionnaire and clear information enable us to quickly clarify benefit-related matters, so that our policyholders receive an answer as soon as possible.
We thank you for cooperating in the interests of our mutual customers.
Our Therapist Recognition Office at Health Insurance Solutions AG will be happy to help you.
Frequently asked questions about the recognition process
You will receive a response within two to three weeks of submitting the application.
If you have any questions, please contact the santéservices ag team directly, at www.santeservices.ch.
