Overview of our support and pension solution
In partnership with BEKB, Visana is the first health insurer to offer you a pension solution based on pillar 3. It covers the need for both financial security and support services at an advanced age. It is therefore both a tax-efficient investment as well as a support solution for independent living at home at an advanced age.
-
You can use the savings accumulated in your pillar 3 account to access discounted support services after reaching the OASI/AHV retirement age.
-
You only need to choose support services when you actually need them, based on your actual requirements.
-
If your savings capital has been depleted, you can continue to receive services at preferential rates as a self-paying customer.
-
Your financial freedom is guaranteed, as you can also use your accumulated savings at any time to cover other needs after retirement.
-
You benefit from a comprehensive range of discounted support services provided by selected partners throughout Switzerland.
-
You can view and book support services on our platform autonom-daheim.ch.
Our support and pension solution for independent living at home at an advanced age has been developed in partnership with e&e and has been commended with a Swiss Insurance Innovation Award.
In just a few steps, you can simulate your savings capital and service packages online.
Additional options for even more security at an advanced age
Our new support and pension solution offers you bespoke protection. We offer additional top-up options for all scenarios, providing you with security over and above our support and pension solution.
Our savings contribution guarantee (from CHF 8.50 per month)
A savings contribution guarantee offers additional protection against the risk of no longer being able to make contributions to your retirement savings account due to the inability to earn a living or loss of earnings. In such cases, Visana steps in and contributes an amount equivalent to your average contributions over the previous ten years so that your planned retirement savings are still guaranteed.
Entitlement to benefits arises in the event of invalidity that qualifies for payment of a federal invalidity insurance (IV) pension.
Our emergency support (from CHF 1.60 per month)
This insurance helps you deal with everyday issues in emergency situations before you reach OASI/AHV retirement age. For example, you are unable to cook, do the laundry or clean on your own due to illness or accident.
You can book the services you need online through one of our two external partners. You can conveniently submit invoices received from the service provider via myVisana or send them in by post.
You can claim emergency support if your incapacity to work exceeds 70%, provided that you submit a medical certificate confirming your restricted ability or inability to carry out everyday tasks and/or housework.

How our solution for independent living at an advanced age works
-
Use the online simulator to calculate how much you want to pay in each month and find out which services you can purchase at an advanced age.
-
In the online simulator, you can specify whether you are interested in our “savings contribution guarantee” or “emergency support” additional top-up options.
-
After the offer has been signed we open the pillar 3a account for you at BEKB. You can contact BEKB directly at any time to make any subsequent changes to your pillar 3a account.
-
Once you have transformed your pillar 3a/3b pension account into a pillar 3b withdrawal account, you can book discounted services from the support catalogue using the Visana booking tool autonom-daheim.ch. You then use your pillar 3b withdrawal account to pay for the services.
-
If you use up the balance of the Visana 3b withdrawal account, you can still purchase services via the Visana booking tool at the same discounted conditions.
-
If you have selected the additional “emergency support” option, you can also access support services for dealing with everyday issues in emergency situations. You can submit the invoices for these services as usual via myVisana or by post.
-
If you choose the “savings contribution guarantee” additional option, we cover your pillar 3a contributions (based on your average contributions over the previous ten years) in the event of inability to earn a living or loss of earnings.

General questions on support services and the pillar 3a account
Yes. All of our partners have undertaken to comply with the SVA Guidelines* (Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults) to ensure protection, security and dignity during old age.
* Developed with e&e – entwicklung & evaluation, based on source documents from the Elder Mediation International Network, EMIN
You can deduct contributions paid into a pillar 3a account from your taxable income up to a certain maximum figure. This applies to both employees and self-employed persons.
This term refers to a former pillar 3a account from which you can withdraw money. Strictly speaking, it is not possible to simply withdraw money from a pillar 3a account, as it is tied for retirement purposes.
It is possible to choose from three BEKB investment strategies with a 20%, 40% or 60% equity component, as well as a pure pillar 3a/3b savings account without any equity component. The investment strategies differ in terms of your risk appetite, the equity component and the sustainability aspect.
Yes, the necessary support services can also be paid for using other savings. A third pillar account must be opened with BEKB in order to benefit from the discounted price. If this credit balance has been used up, funds from accounts held at other banks can also be used. You still receive the services at the discounted price.
The support services required can be paid for out of other savings.
No. A BEKB pillar 3a account must be opened in order to benefit from Visana’s support and pension solution.
Each provider manages different aspects of the customer relationship: BEKB deals with all banking issues relating to a pillar 3a account, while Visana covers all insurance-related issues. The bank does not receive any data from Visana and vice versa.
Any person who fulfils the conditions for opening a pillar 3a/3b pension account and has duly opened an account with our partner bank can obtain insurance.
The insurance is terminated if there is no longer any insurance relationship for a pension solution between the insured person and Visana Versicherungen AG. Proof must be furnished in writing.
After a one-year period of uninterrupted insurance cover, the customer can terminate the contract ordinarily at the end of a calendar year with three months’ prior notice.
The insured person must submit tax certificates for the last ten years. Upon the occurrence of the event, Visana requires the customer to present an up-to-date account statement. This enables Visana to calculate the average savings contribution paid in.
No. A pension solution (3a/3b) has to be set up with BEKB in order to obtain a savings contribution guarantee.
Benefits under the savings contribution guarantee are determined according to the average savings contribution paid over the last ten years.
Entitlement to benefits arises in the event of invalidity that qualifies for payment of a federal invalidity insurance (IV) pension. Entitlement arises at the same time as entitlement to an IV pension.
The amount of the benefits depends on the degree of invalidity determined by the IV authority. If the degree of invalidity is 70% or more, the insured person will be entitled to the full insured benefits; if it is less than 40%, there will be no entitlement to insured benefits. If the degree of invalidity is at least 40% but less than 70%, the insured person will be entitled to half the insured benefits. If the relevant degree of invalidity changes, the insurance benefit is also adjusted.
Entitlement to insurance benefits will cease when the insured person is no longer unable to earn an income, but at the latest at the end of the last month in which the insured person receives IV benefits.
- Throughout Switzerland, except the canton of Jura: Spitex for city and countryside
- Throughout Switzerland, except Upper Valais, Ticino and Upper Engadin: Home Instead
- Ticino and the Italian-speaking part of the canton of Graubünden: Gentilcure

Cover under this insurance contract will begin after the customer’s health check, with effect from the date given in our confirmation of insurance cover issued to the customer.
Insurance will cease when the insured person reaches regular OASI/AHV retirement age. You can continue the insurance until the age of 70 at the latest. Corresponding proof of gainful employment must be provided annually, otherwise the insurance will be cancelled.
An emergency is a medically documented restriction on ability to perform, or total inability to perform, routine and/or household tasks.
The medical certificate must record, and provide medical justification for, the indication and the tasks that cannot be performed.
